The Victorian Government established the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System to provide the community with a clear and ambitious set of actions that will change Victoria's mental health system and enable Victorians to experience their best mental health now and into the future.
The MHCC is supportive of the Royal Commission, however it's important to note that MHCC is not responsible for it - the Royal Commission is an independent body.
What's happening now?
The Royal Commission is holding public hearings at the Melbourne Town Hall until July 26, as well as one regional hearing in Maryborough, and one hearing exploring the specific issues Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people face when accessing public mental health services in Victoria. Anyone is welcome to attend, and the hearings are broadcast via livestream on the Royal Commission's website.
