Our Making a complaint information sheet is now available online in 16 different languages, including English, Arabic, Vietnamese, Croatian and Dari.
Commissioner Lynne Coulson Barr said the translated information sheets will inform consumers and carers from culturally and linguistically diverse communities about their right to make a complaint, in line with the Mental Health Act 2014.
‘Our information sheet explains the processes they can follow to make a complaint, and the supporting role of our office,’ Commissioner Coulson Barr said.
In Victoria, there are over one million people who speak a language other than English at home, and over 200,000 with limited English proficiency.
This work reflects the MHCC’s commitment to providing people from these communities with the chance to take part in decisions that affect their lives, in line with the Multicultural Victoria Act 2011.
