Make a complaint

It’s your right to make a complaint about a public mental health service in Victoria. Speaking up can improve the mental health system for you and other people.

You can make a complaint to the service directly or contact us at the Mental Health Complaints Commissioner (MHCC) to discuss your concerns.

The MHCC was created under the Mental Health Act 2014 as an independent body to safeguard rights, resolve complaints and recommend improvements to Victorian public mental health services. Find complaint stories.

Even if we can’t help you directly with your particular concerns, we will do our best to put you in touch with people who can. For example:

The MHCC is an inclusive workplace that embraces diversity in all its forms.

We are driven by the voice, expertise and wisdom of people with lived experience of emotional distress, trauma, neurodiversity or mental health challenges and families and carers. We honour and respect this in all our work.
